Transportation Dispatcher
Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports to: County Manager
Summary: As Dispatcher, coordinate the movements of means of transport vans and buses by communicating with Drivers through computers, phones and two-way radios. Assign drivers to their respective vehicles and ensure that time schedules are maintained.
Essential Duties Dispatcher:
- Answer phones at a high volume
- Schedule drivers and make vehicle assignments
- Communicate any changes to drivers and clients
- Keep track of the progress that drivers make along their routes.
- Follow the routes taken by the drivers
- Check the drivers’ in and out time and transfer these records into files
- Handle any requests and/or complaints communicated by the clients.
- Verify eligibility and schedule agency services for clients
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize work independently
- Ability to work with computers and other office equipment
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
